- Pray for the families of those killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Pray that the Holy Spirit will comfort them, and give them His supernatural peace. (Philippians 4:7)
- Pray for those wounded and sent back to the States, asking for God to heal not only their physical wounds, but the mental images they have seen as well.
- Pray for the safety of our troops in Iraq, Afghanistan, and around the world. Pray that God will protect and guide them daily. (Psalm 5:11)
- Pray for the President and key military leaders as they consider strategy in Iraq and around the world. (Psalms 32:8; 2 Timothy 1:7)
- Pray for those making decisions that affect our military to have unity in purpose.(I Peter 3:8)
- Pray that our troops will not loose heart but will be persistent in completing the task set before them. (Galatians 6:9)
- Praise God for watching over our nation despite the strategies of terrorists that would destroy our country. Pray that the terrorist’s plans will be discovered and thwarted and that God would continue to protect our country. (2 Thessalonians 3:3)
- Pray that our troops will realize the presence of God and will have inner strength. (Psalms 46:1; Ephesians 3:16)
- Pray for the security of our forces and their bases, asking God to give the health for their physical body and courage to continue their work. (Psalm 17:8; Philippians 4:13; Joshua 1:9)
- Ask God to direct our troops to help their comrades in arms and the nationals they are involved with. (Philippians 2:3-4) Pray they will be aware of God’s love for them and will share the hope in them with others.(Psalm 42)
- Ask God to direct the steps of our troops as they enter into the conflict. (Psalms 21:8). Pray they will be diligent in their work. (Colossians 3:12)
- Pray for their hearts as they long for the families. Pray that God will give them peace as they consider their families needs while they are away.(I Peter 5:7)
- Pray for our soldiers as they battle loneliness. (Deuteronomy 31:6)
- Pray that the soldiers get adequate rest, and that they are able to adjust to the various time changes required by their duty assignments. (Matthew 11:28-29; Psalm 4:8)
- Pray for other family, friends, neighbors, churches and military support groups to be aware of various needs of those families whose husbands or wives are sent overseas and to stand in the gap while they are gone. (James 1:5)
- Pray for the children and spouses of our troops that God will teach them, be a father to them and a champion to them.
- Pray that He will protect and lead them. (Isaiah 54:13, Psalm 68:5; Isaiah 40:11) Pray they will have patience while waiting for the return of their loved ones. (Psalms 33:20)
- Pray they will recognize the strength God gives to them to resist temptation and that God will give them discernment as they deal with a different culture, far from home. (I Corinthians 10:13;Philipians 1:9) Pray that God will protect them as they travel. (Psalms 121:7-8)
- Ask God to help our troops recognize they are also facing a spiritual battle and that God will protect them from evil and be delivered from the enemy. (2 Thessalonians 3:3; Psalm 31:15)
- Ask God to help our troops as they fight depression and that they will be an encouragement to those around them. (Psalms 42:5;Proverbs 11:25)
- Pray for our troops to draw closer to God, manifested with an increased prayer life. (Jeremiah 33:3)
- Ask God to set His Angels to guard them, and deliver them from the enemy. (Psalms 31:15;Psalm 34:7)
- Pray that Americans here at home will continue to support, respect, and encourage our troops. (Romans 13:7)
- Pray for soldiers returning from deployment to readjust to their military family life, and for the men and women who are transitioning back into civilian life after their time of service. (I Peter 5:7)
- Pray through Psalm 91(often called the soldiers Psalm) for any soldiers you know.
